Wild Orchid Brooch

SUBJECT:

A study of the wild orchid in profile, captured through an arching stem and sweeping petal form. The silhouette gives fluid movement to solid metal.

The details of the stem design function as a fastening, recalling the simple gesture of picking a flower and pinning it onto clothing. A familiar act, translated into a lasting object that will not wilt nor fade.
